What is a bottle blowing machine?

The bottle blowing machine is a kind of plastic particles by blow molding process will be made into hollow container equipment, currently more common types include, forming a PP and PE hollow extrusion blow machine, using PET, PC or PP two molding injection stretch blow molding machine, and the newly developed multilayer hollow extrusion blow molding and stretch blow molding.

At present, most of the bottle blowing machine is still the two step bottle blowing machine, that is, we must first make the plastic raw material into the bottle embryo, and then blow it. Now commonly used is the PET material of environmental protection plastic. Blow molding machine: after the liquid plastic is sprayed out, the wind is blown by the machine, and the mold is blown to a certain shape cavity to make the product. This machine is called blow molding machine. It is also a kind of bottle blowing machine, that is, hydraulic bottle blowing machine.

The Plastic

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a non-porous thermosetting plastic that is perfect for manufacturing anything that needs to be water-tight. PET is a popular choice for drinks bottles because it is lightweight, safe and fully recyclable.

The Technique

The PET bottle blow moulding process works by reheating a pre-moulded PET preform which is then automatically positioned into a mould. High pressure food grade compressed air is then injected into the preform which expands to form the shape of the mould. Once the plastic has cooled, the bottle is removed and the process repeats. This process is suitable for making a large range of bottles up to 1 litre in capacity with a range of standard necks available.  Bottles can also be supplied in custom colours with low MOQ's.

The Blow Molding Process

The extrusion blow molding process produces plastic bottles of various sizes and shapes. Millions of people use these bottles daily for soda, water, cleaning products, food, and more. With this process, low-pressure air of around 25 to 150 psi is forced into a parison. Multiple materials are used, including Low-Density Polypropylene (LDPE), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), and Polypropylene (PP).

  • A parison with a conventional downward extrusion is inserted into the mold cavity until reaching the required length.
  • The neck ending catches and holds while the bottom end pinches closed as the tube closes.
  • A blow-pin is interested into the neck end of the hot parison while compressed air inflates it to the shape of the mold cavity. Simultaneously, the process creates the threaded opening.
  • Once the mold sufficiently cools, it opens, ejecting the finished bottle along with excess plastic that was trimmed off from around the neck and bottom portions.
